New Hi-Viz Trail Markers

Foundation members have started putting up new hi-viz, color-coded trail markers. The markers will be placed along popular trails in the south side of the forest, and will make identifying trails easier. The markers are also extremely durable and should last for many years.

Foundation board members Carol Tannous and Jan Kiger recently spent an afternoon placing markers along the Raven Rock Trail. They spent five hours in the forest placing the new markers all the way out to Raven Rock.  ”It was a beautiful day, and Jan and I saw a lot of people in the forest.  The parking lot was full and we ended up having to find a place to park on the road,” said Carol.

“The new plastic signs are VERY visible and can be seen for greater distances as they are bright and really stand out.   As per [the forest superintendent's] instructions they were placed high on the trees to minimize vandalism and increase visibility in snow.  We also heeded the suggestion to the diamond sideways to indicate a turn in the path.”
