Each year, working in tandem with WVDNR forest staff, members of the Coopers Rock Foundation and a variety of volunteer groups supervised by Foundation members perform hundreds of hours of service in and for the forest. Projects include:

• cleanup of forest roads, trails, and facilities
• maintenance, repair, and improvement of facilities
• natural habitat restoration
• blazes and signage for trails
• staffing at special events in the forest
• special benefits for the forest
• surveying storm damage in the forest

Foundation members also advocate for the forest before the West Virginia state legislature in Charleston, and work with state employees and elected officials to ensure the forest is managed in a way that best promotes preservation and recreation.

Our members include individuals with a long history of recreating in the forest. These members serve as valuable sources of knowledge about the forest both for informing the public and for helping to guide forest management.
